Reishi, long considered a medicinal fungus in East Asia, is simmered and makes a rather bitter tea. The benefits of reishi is claimed to be far-ranging by many, ranging from longevity to strengthened immunity and everything in between. The taste might make you cringe but it's nothing a dollop of honey can’t tame. Plus it looks really cool, especially when you find it in your local park. This one was in a shop in Chinatown, Manhattan.
